John Nieboer bass-baritone

John received a BA in Music from the University of Alberta and later a Diploma of Education (Melbourne, Australia) and a Diploma of Operatic Performance (U of T).

He performed as a chorister with the Canadian Opera Company from 1974 to his retirement in 2007. John has sung numerous comprimario roles in such operas as Il Travatore, Don Carlos, La Boheme, La Traviata and others. He has performed a variety of roles with smaller opera companies and with symphony orchestras in such cities as Saskatoon, Kitchener-Waterloo and others. He has been a chorister and soloist with the Shevchenko Musical Ensemble since 1974.
