Imagine!
Imagine the fusion of Ukrainian and other ethnic cultures, a diverse program of folk, classical and contemporary song, music, and dance. That’s the Shevchenko Musical Ensemble, a unique combination of mixed voice choir, mandolin orchestra and folk dancers!
And although the Ensemble’s roots lie in the Ukrainian community, its repertoire includes Ukrainian, Russian and other folk songs and dances, popular operatic arias and choruses, Canadian folk and contemporary songs and music, and classical orchestral music.
The Ensemble has been delighting audiences throughout Ontario and beyond for more than 55 years. Each Ensemble concert also presents outstanding instrumental and vocal soloists who perform with this unique combination of choir, mandolin orchestra and dancers.

Annual Concert Shevchenko Musical Ensemble
Due to the G20 Summit, it was necessary to cancel the Annual Concert of the Shevchenko Musical Ensemble which was to be held at Isabel Bader Theatre on that day. The theatre is part of the University of Toronto campus and the campus will be closed in anticipation of the large protest rally which will be held in the close vicinity of the theatre.
Unable to find another theatre or a suitable date, the concert is postponed until the fall. It will be held:
Sunday, November 14 • 2:00 p.m.
Isabel Bader Theatre
93 St. Charles St. W
The concert will be dedicated to the memory of Bill Morris and will feature a diverse program with outstanding vocal and instrumental soloists and Desna Ukrainian Dance Co. as guest artists.
The rescheduling of the Annual Concert to November will also cancel the planned concert of the Toronto Mandolin Orchestra on November 28 in the Richmond Hill Centre for the Arts.
Watch the site for further information on the appearance of Tamara Volskaya (domra) and Anatoliy Trofimov (bayan) in Toronto in November.
